Today, over one billion children are out of school due to COVID-19 pandemic.

But the situation is a global health crisis upon an already existing global education crisis. Before the pandemic, 258 million children were out of school, and certain kids are most vulnerable — including girls, refugees, and children living in conflict zones.

If these children remain out of school, many may never have the opportunity to resume their education. A report from the Malala Fund estimates that 10 million more girls could be out of secondary school after the crisis has passed.

The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and Education Cannot Wait (ECW) are two organizations working to ensure that every child is able to keep learning despite this crisis. But they urgently need more funds to ensure that they can respond to the current emergency, and other crises in the future.
