When deadly pandemics strike, whole healthcare systems suffer – and for children in extreme poverty, the consequences can be life-threatening.

In this time of global pandemic, it is more important than ever that we don’t fail those already living on the edge. As health systems come under increasing strain, more children than ever are at risk of missing out on the vital vaccinations they need.

That’s why Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance is so important. Gavi exists to ensure live-saving vaccinations reach everyone — its health workers immunise families in extreme poverty across the world. Today Gavi provides nearly half the world’s children with protection against diseases from measles to pneumonia.

Now, in the midst of COVID-19, it’s more important than ever that kids across the world continue to receive the life-saving vaccinations they need. But Gavi cannot carry out its critical work without the support of governments worldwide.

On May 4, the EU has invited leaders to gather digitally for a conference to agree how to protect humanity against the effects of COVID-19. Call on world leaders to make sure a pledge to Gavi is part of that moment.

No child should miss out on life-saving vaccines. Call on world leaders to help protect kids throughout this pandemic and beyond by making a new pledge to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
